Michigan Vision Insurance Plans

Shopping Tips when comparing Michigan Vision Insurance Plans

The high cost of routine eye examinations and prescription eyewear is often a real concern for people who have to purchase their own individual health plans.Vision plans typically cover routine eye exams. A vision policy should be very specific about the dollar amounts or discounts for the purchase of contact lenses and eyeglasses.

When you are comparing plans, note that some vision plans also offer discounts on refractive surgery, such as PRK ad LASIK.

Be sure to ask the agent...

• If your policy is an insurance plan or a discount plan

• How much of a discount can you expect for different type services?

• If there is a deductible

• If there is a limit to the amount the policy will pay for coverage each calendar year

• If you can go to a provider out side the network

• What type vision services are not covered

• If there is a waiting period for specific type services after you enroll in the plan

Where Can I Get Vision Insurance?

Some individual health insurance plans offer vision insurance as an optional rider.

If you have purchased your current health plan from Oakland Insurance Services, send us an email or give us a call and we will check to see if your type policy includes an option to add coverage for vision.
